The attempt to capture Field Marshall Sir Evelyn Wood and his staff at a farmhouse, West Shefford.

The Field-Marshall and his staff had halted in a farmyard, when a sergeant and four men of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders crept up and attempted to seize the leader of the invading force.

They grabbed at Sir Evelyn's horse bridle, but his horse reared and the party wheeled about and fled to safety.
