BALAKLAVA PLATOON:
Stirling Castle 1957

This was taken on the 5th July 1957 during our 4th week of training. The occasion was the Passing Out Parade of MALAYA Platoon, who were the Senior Intake in the Castle at that time.

Martin BOXALL is being inspected by the Officer Commanding the Depot, Major Miles MARSTON MC. Boxall went on to become Support Company Clerk in Cyprus and later a Canon in the Church of England.

Major Marston is followed by Platoon Sergeant Willie 'Tug' WILSON (shortly to be posted to Battalion - 'A' Company - in Bury St Edmunds). Next is Depot CSM, WO2 "Ginger" Coleman who later became the RSM when the Battalion arrived in LEMGO.
